One of my favorite scenes in the tv show "The Office" is when Michael is trying to show how smart he is to Ryan who is in business school at the time. Ryan quizzes Michael by asking him the question "is it cheaper to acquire a new customer or keep an existing customer?" Michael answers "acquire a new customer" which is of course wrong and then is embarrassed. The fact of the matter is that it is way cheaper to keep existing customers and that is exactly what Email and SMS marketing does for you.


Another way that the same ideology applies to your business or brand is to ask that same question that Ryan asked Michael except substitute the word "customer" with "attention".
